Aquamarine’s name is from the latin word 'aqua marina,' meaning seawater & is a colored type of Beryl, usually seen with green to blue hues. In ancient lore, aquamarine was believed to be the treasure of mermaids. It was linked to the power of the seas, & believed to have the ability to control the waters, preventing disasters. Sailors have always carried an aquamarine stone with them to ensure safe travels at sea. Egyptians also believed that the stone helped the dead release its spirit and lead it to the gates of paradise.
Aquamarine supports us in wisdom, intellect, knowledge, the enhancement of ideas, and clarity of the mind. It is calming, soothing, inspires truth, trust, letting go, fearlessness, and protection. It was also considered a stone of eternal youth and happiness, inspiring judgmental people to be more tolerant & helps those overwhelmed by responsibility to find order. Aquamarine is often given as a love token or eternity ring, & increases commitment and fidelity “as long as the waters of the earth flow.”
